AN adultery website that has almost half a million Australian members is now providing a money-back guarantee if its customers don’t have an affair.
Noel Biderman, the founder of ashleymadison. com.au, said he would personally reimburse cheats who couldn’t find a fling by following the website’s guidelines.
But Mr Biderman, ironically in Australia to renew his wedding vows, said Ashley Madison wasn’t just about philanderers shacking up. Affairs, just like marriages, had to be worked on.
“I think people sometimes mistakenly assume that Ashley Madison is just an online brothel,” he said.
“If you want to find the right level of success, we think there is the commitment level you need to make, and if it doesn’t work out for you then we’ll give you your money back.”
The dating site’s Australian arm has more than 400,000 members and launched a successful smartphone app last year.
The website claims to protect love rats from leaving a trail of “digital lipstick” by deleting personal communication between users and keeping identities secret.
The website has drawn international condemnation since its launch in 2001, with family groups accusing Mr Biderman of making money from others’ grief.
Family Council of Victoria president Peter Stokes said the website’s success was a sad reflection on society.
“The sheer fact that he thinks there’s a market out there shows how degraded we’ve become in terms what we think relationships are,” Mr Stokes said.
“Yes, some marriages break up, yes some husbands play up and so do some wives, but do we have to normalise it?”
But Mr Biderman said Ashley Madison was just facilitating something that had long existed.

Ashley Madison members cheat. Bucks County voters swing.
With that combination, perhaps it’s not surprising that the social network that facilitates extramarital affairs picked Bucks County as the first location for a billboard endorsing acknowledged adulterer Newt Gingrich as its 2012 GOP presidential primary pick.
“I’d be lying if I told you it was for his approach on the immigration policy,” Ashley Madison founder and CEO Noel Biderman said in a phone interview Tuesday. “It’s squarely on the shoulders, that if he is successful the way President Clinton was, that politicians can run and stay in office even if they have an indiscretion.”
The billboard along southbound Route 1 in Morrisville boasts an image of the former House speaker followed by two sentences: “Faithful Republican, unfaithful husband. Welcome to the Ashleymadison.com Era.”
The sign appeared Thursday, the first of six pro-Gingrich billboards the website has planned for six key primary states, Biderman said. It will remain until at least the end of January, but there is an option to keep it up until Pennsylvania’s April primary, Biderman said.
“We wanted to see the reaction,” he added. “So far, so good.”
Gingrich has no Pennsylvania campaign office. An email to his campaign seeking comment was not immediately answered Tuesday.
Biderman said he hasn’t heard from Gingrich or his campaign people. Not that he’s surprised. “If I was advising him, I’d say you should keep silent,” he said.
Gingrich, who has three marriages under his belt, is the surprise standout in the crowded GOP presidential candidate field. He has admitted to extramarital affairs, but it apparently hasn’t hurt his reputation among voters.
The latest CBS News poll has former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Gingrich tied at the top of the Republican pack to win their party’s presidential nomination, each with 20 percent of GOP primary voters’ support. On Sunday, Gingrich won a straw poll hosted by the Tea Party Patriots.
Now that Gingrich’s popularity is rising with Americans, Biderman felt compelled to make a point to illustrate that marital infidelity has no bearing on someone’s ability to do a job.
“How times have changed when a serial divorcee-adulterer is capturing the hearts of the American people,” he said. “Here is someone who is laying himself bare more than others.”
The Keystone State was a logical choice for unveiling the Gingrich endorsement for reasons other than that Gingrich was born here, Biderman said. It’s also apparently popular with adulterers.
Pennsylvania is the only state where new membership to AshleyMadison.com, which has 8.9 million U.S. members, didn’t decline this month, spokeswoman Steph Davidson said. The Web site works like other Internet membership sites, where you pay for a subscription to get access to other members and arrange affairs.
Pennsylvania membership has grown faster than other states since 2008, jumping from 80,168 members to nearly 336,000 members — a more than 200 percent increase.
But why put the billboard in Bucks County, rather than Harrisburg, the state’s capital and the city where Gingrich was born?
Simple, Biderman replied. Bucks County is considered a swing county in the state, a place where presidential contenders often visit to woo voters.
In September, Gingrich was the first, and so far only, GOP presidential hopeful to visit Bucks County. Nearly 400 people gathered at the Moose Lodge in Doylestown to hear him speak at an event hosted by the Doylestown-based Tea Party Group, Kitchen Table Patriots.
Kitchen Table Patriots co-founder Anastasia Przybylski said if the website is trying to hurt Gingrich’s candidacy, the billboard is a good tactic.
As a candidate, Gingrich has “very, very” strong leadership skills that would likely turn around the U.S. the fastest of the GOP contenders, Przybylski said. But, she added, he does still have to overcome his unfaithful past.
“As far as politicians go, a lot of them have these kinds of skeletons in their closets,” she added. “I believe in the sanctity of marriage, however, I do recognize in the climate we live in and the divorce rate what it is, it’s hard to find candidates that don’t have this in their background.”
Biderman said the website didn’t endorse any presidential candidates in the 2008 race, though he noted it clearly has a “fondness” for former President Clinton.
“He’s a president after our own heart,” he said.
But the GOP-packed 2012 presidential race seemed like an ideal opportunity to throw its membership’s support behind a candidate, though Biderman acknowledged that its members were not polled about Gingrich.
“This hopefully resonates and maybe makes him more human,” he added. “If we removed every unfaithful politician, I don’t know if you’d have anyone left to govern.”

Raptors big man Andrea Bargnani is distancing himself from reports that he is in negotiations to play for Virtus Roma during the lockout, thanks to backing from Ashley Madison.

The supersized model whose picture was unwittingly used in an advertisement for an extra-marital affairs website has spoken out about the apparent ‘exploitation’ of her body.
Known only by the name Jacqueline, the obese model has slammed Ashley Madison and the advertising industry for ‘body shaming’ and promoting infidelity.
Writing on Jezebel.com, the U.S. size 32 model said the photo that was used in the ad was taken years ago and then unknowingly sold to picture agencies.
Big is beautiful: Jacqueline, who unwittingly features in the ad, believes the marketing material ‘suggests, blatantly, that fat people are patently undeserving of love and loyalty.’
The image of her body, scantily clad and languishing suggestively, then made its way into the offending marketing material for Ashley Madison, accompanied by the slogan ‘Did your wife scare you last night?’ The full-page ad recently appeared in New York Metro newspaper.
She says the ad is yet another unwelcome case of body shaming.
‘There is an enormous problem in this world in regards to female body shaming, and not solely in regard to fat women, but all women. A size 2 woman who sees this ad sees the message: “If I don’t stay small, he will cheat.”
‘A size 12 woman might see this ad and think “If I don’t lose 30lbs, he will cheat.” A size 32 woman could see this ad, and feel “I will never find love.” It’s horrific,’ she writes on Jezebel.

She believes the use of her photo ‘Contribut[es] to… widespread and creeping depression by suggesting, blatantly and without pretense, that fat people are patently undeserving of love and loyalty,’ and deems the action ‘repulsive.’
To add insult to injury, body shaming, she says, is being used to promote infidelity.
‘I find the very idea that there exists a business based solely around the facilitation of infidelity appalling. The fact that they are now suggesting that a person’s partner not fitting their ideal body size/shape, entitles that person to ‘shop around’ is disgusting,’ she writes.
‘It’s bad enough that a business exists that profits from cheaters, but, worse, that they have the gall to blame a woman’s body on the act’

Jacqueline, whose ‘Big Beautiful Women’ business is dependent on those who find obesity sexually arousing, is proud of her ‘supersize’ sexiness. She is the star of pornography website, juicyjackie.com.
But there is a stark difference between those who choose to visit her BBW site and a public ad that is targeted at unloyal men, she believes.
‘I am a size 32. I am beautiful. I think women of all sizes are beautiful. Beauty is not and has never been one-size-fits-all. I do not appreciate my image being used, without notice or permission, to tell women I have never met otherwise.
‘It is incumbent upon advertisers, and society at large, to act responsibly before foisting something like this onto the world.’

The man behind the controversial affairs website, Noel Biderman, has responded to Jacqueline’s words.
The best thing that could’ve happened to this woman is that we used her in our ad. Despite what she may want you to think, she is reaping the press for her own pornography website,’ wrote the Ashley Madison founder and CEO.
‘She took these pictures and signed the release knowing that they were not just for “personal use.” However, if she can get great publicity from this, all the power to her.’
Ashley Madison has been criticised for its unusual – if not taboo-breaking – stance on extra-marital affairs. Mr Biderman defended the site on Business Week earlier this year, saying that the service, which links married individuals to potential sexual partners, is a way to save marriages.
‘If I woke up and found my partner wasn’t interested in being with me sexually and I tried to do everything I could but sex was now off her radar…Well, sex is important in my marriage – it is – but it’s not No. 1 and it’s not No. 2,’ she told the magazine.
‘So I would stray before I would just leave, because maybe that would give me enough of what I need to stay within my marriage to do all the other things that are critical to me.’

“We think we know what kind of individual Herman is and we are trying to say to him that there is a better way to pursue those interpersonal relationships and if he wants to come and be employed with us until 12/12/12 of next year and help explain how people should avoid these kind of disclosures in the future by using Ashley Madison, he’d be a great advocate for the product,” Biderman explains.
The official offer, which was extended to Cain last Monday, includes a $400,000 salary and is for the position president of international affairs of Ashley Madison, which has more than 12 million users in 17 countries. “I genuinely believe he is the perfect for it given that he is our target market — that’s exactly the kind of person we find on our service all of the time.”
While Biderman tells us he hasn’t heard back from Cain or his attorneys yet, he is hoping to get some kind of response.
If he doesn’t and Newt Gingrich becomes “available,” would the former House speaker be a viable candidate for the role?
“I think the challenge with him is that having confessed and acknowledged infidelity, he seems to not necessarily be an advocate for it, but it’s something I would consider, I suppose,” Biderman shares.
We reached out to Cain’s camp for comment with no response.
